• Aspes Beach

  For our first stop, we visit the enchanting black beach of Aspes, one of the most beautiful yet hidden beaches in Asterousia. The sand is black, creating a wonderful contrast with the crystal-clear turquoise waters. Nearby, sea caves and beautiful coves are formed, with a tiny beach whose length is less than two meters.

• Kaminaki Beach

  Close to the Black Beach (Aspes), nature has created a beautiful contrast, as nearby lies the White Beach (also known as Kaminaki) at the exit of the Pervolianos Gorge. Very close to the beach is a sea cave of extraordinary beauty, shaped like a delta.

• Three Churches

  We encounter the three Churches at the exit of Ampas Gorge, where we can admire one of the tallest waterfalls in Greece standing at a height of 145m, as well as the majestic griffon vulture. It is a beautiful seaside village nestled among the steep and rocky mountains of Asterousia. To the east of the area lies a stunning beach with turquoise waters, the Voidomatis Beach. There, a huge underwater cave enhances the beauty of the landscape. From the western side and crossing the largest carob forest in Europe, we reach Glyka Nera, a beach with three impressive caves. These three caves are interconnected, creating a unique spectacle that culminates in an imposing stone bridge.

• Koudouma Monastery

  At the foot of Kofinas, the highest peak of the Asterousia Mountains, amidst the wild beauty of the pine forest, lies the monastery of Koudouma, one of the oldest monasteries in southern Crete, founded around 1280. The temple is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, and on August 15th, grand celebrations take place, drawing crowds of people. The sanctuary of the temple is located within a small cave, creating a primitive and reverential atmosphere. In front of the monastery, there is a pristine beach with rocky caves. Special mention should be made of a cave-like temple, adorned with rich stalactite decoration, located to the west of the monastery and called Avvakospilio.

  Moni Koudouma

• Agios Antonios

  Between the monastery of Koudouma and the seaside village of Agios Ioannis lies the beautiful coast of Agios Antonios, consisting of three coves. Among them, the namesake beach (Agios Antonios) stands out, with its highlight being the impressive shipwreck and its crystal-clear turquoise waters, which have earned it a second name ("green waters"). Equally beautiful are the other two coves, the small and the large Agadiko. In the area, we also find the wonderful cave, inside of which there is a chapel dedicated to Agios Antonios, while holy water flows from the stalactites and stalagmites formed there.
