Sea kayak day trip in Sfakia

Fantastic day out, highly recommended. We joined Yves for a kayak tour from Sfakia. This is one of my favourite places in Crete and it was really amazing to experience it from the water. Yves was very knowledgeable about both kayaking and the local area. We stopped for lunch in a delicious taverna. The kayaks were also fantastic. I can’t wait to come back!

Stelios and Yves took 10 of us (4 kids, 6 adults), beginner/intermediate paddlers from several families visiting Crete together for vacation, for a wonder-filled day trip from Sfakia. We began in windy conditions, and so initial enthusiasm for our Loutro destination dimmed. We paused at a beach for some snorkelling, but also to regain strength and rethink the trip – and Stelios also contacted a colleague sailing west of us, and we learned that the wind was in fact dissipating and we would be able to continue on. Though we ended up not making it to the original destination, Stelios and Yves were super accommodating in spontaneously improvising with a couple other beach landings and other adventures along the way, including a great lunch at a “shack in the water” at a beach. Along the way, they explained geological and human history, techniques for kayaking, the sea and plant life – ever with a smile and some good one-liners thrown in. Most impressive was that they took each child at some point in a double kayak (leaving a couple adults with the treat of paddling their singles) to spend time explaining and demonstrating how to paddle more efficiently and “infect” them with the fun of sea kayaking. One of the adults among us, who had strong hestitations to join the group because a dear friend had perished while kayaking, came away newly enthused for the sport and had to be dragged from her boat. The equipment they use is excellent, truly making a difference for newbies and experienced paddlers alike – but what sets Stelios and Yves apart is their expertise and obvious thrill to share their own passion with others. Thanks to them, we enjoyed Crete from a perspective too often missed – from the water. They are true ambassadors of the very unique Greek sense of care and hospitality that we experienced many times throughout our visit on Crete.

We booked a kayak trip from Chora Sfakion to Loutro. The kayak trip was an fantastic experience! Yves is an incredible nice and skillful guide. Beside his kayak passion, he shared loads of interesting facts about the flora and fauna of Crete.

In addition, we were absolutely stoked about their self-designed and built 3kymia Nireas kayaks. They are a stunner! Chapeau!
Next year, we really think about booking the multiple day trip!

The location is ideal for having a beautiful and genuine Cretan experience on a sea kayak. Stelios manages everything in an impeccable and professional manner. He really cares for his customers, it shows, and on top his kayaks and gear are just first class.

We did the Sfakia to Loutro kayaking day trip with Yves and what an enjoyable day it turned out to be!
The group had a detailed introduction before we set off, we spent time at a couple of different beaches throughout the day with the chance to snorkel and see some wild goats. We had a lovely lunch in Loutro, organised by Yves, where they served some of the best food we’ve had in Crete (for example goat and local fish)! Yves is such a funny character, we had a good laugh over lunch and he is also very knowledgeable! Quality kayaks especially compared to some other companies which we saw on the day. I would highly recommend booking your kayak trip with Enjoy Crete!

The trip was full of experiences. Stelios’s briefing, the wild nature showed by Iv, the stunning beaches and incredibly clear water of the Libyan Sea. I would fully recommend the Sfakia – Marble Beach kayaking day trip.

Best activity i have done this year in Crete.
Paddling was very well explained and very easy to do (i had a single seat kayak). Stelios and Yves were excellent guides.
The village of Loutro is awesome to visit by kayak and the beaches that we visited were great for snorkeling with very fresh and clear water.

We did the Sfakia – Loutro day trip and it was just amazing: stunning locations, fun crew and activities, great lunch. Stelios is a true professional and all-around nice guy! He let us use his brand new 3kymia boats which are really great and very easy to paddle. We had so much fun and cannot recommend them enough!

Would definitely recommend doing the Sfakia to Loutro day trip! The scenery was beautiful! It was my favourite activity I did in Crete!

Paddling along the south coast of Crete with Stelios was the highlight of my year.

The trip lived up to all expectations with fantastic scenery, from cliffs to caves; pretty villages and monasteries, all with a mountainous backdrop. The beach camping and night skies were truly magical and I loved the remote sections with quiet beaches that we found along the way for camping. In essence all the joys of kayaking for me.

It was a bonus to receive coaching to improve my stroke and practice rescue skills with the group too. Despite the lovely warm water I still haven’t got back to rolling, that is a project for me, but some of the others did.

Interestingly, Stelios has a fleet of his own design kayaks which performed well for us in a variety of conditions.

Would I go again? YES:)

I rent a seakayak for 2 days. The communication and the planing were very professionell.
Stelios is great organized, very helpfull and a nice person.
The equiqment is on a very high level for a really fair price. It‘s not just quick rental and quick money for Stelios. The first rule is: Safty first!
